The Titch Coffee House owners have shared their exciting new journey on TikTok as they renovate the space.
A Kilmarnock couple, Becky Melville, 33, and Stuart Melville, 36, are gearing up for the grand opening of their coffee shop, Titch Coffee House, on March 1. Located at 57 Titchfield Street, the shop will operate Tuesday to Saturday from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm and on Sundays from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.
Combining their skills in interior design and construction, the couple has personally undertaken most of the renovations. Documenting their journey on TikTok, the videos showcase the transformation of the former hairdressers into a dreamy coffee shop, drawing the attention of hundreds.
Becky shared,
“We love visiting places with lots of independent shops and cafes, so opening a specialty coffee shop would be a great way to bring more people to the street. There are already great coffee providers in Kilmarnock, but you can never have too much of a good thing, right?”
To ensure the food matches the quality of their drinks, Becky and Stuart spent months researching and sampling their favorite offerings. The menu boasts stand-out items like Pain au Chocolat from Jeju Bakery and hot chocolate made from real cocoa chocolate flakes topped with toasted Italian meringue.
In addition to food and drinks, Titch Coffee House will feature a small retail section, stocking local favorites like Sorores from Dunlop and Clod & Pebble from Craigie.
Despite the challenges of venturing into the hospitality industry without prior experience, the couple’s determination and resourcefulness shine through. Becky noted,
“There have been late nights and a few arguments, but we’ve figured it out as we’ve gone along. Normally, I design for other people, so it’s been really fun to design this for ourselves and soon share it with our customers.”
