Kilmarnock, Ayrshire – Dionne Brown, the prolific striker for Kilmarnock Women’s team, has been crowned the SWPL2 Player of the Month for her outstanding performances in February. The accolade comes on the heels of Kilmarnock’s continued success in the promotion play-off race, solidifying their position in the SWPL2.

Brown’s stellar contributions included a crucial goal in the 3-2 victory over Glasgow Women and an impressive brace in the club’s dominant 10-0 triumph against Stirling University. These performances not only showcased Brown’s scoring prowess but also played a vital role in Kilmarnock’s seven-point lead over Livingston for the runner-up spot.

Jim Chapman’s side recently secured a hard-fought 0-0 draw against league leaders Queen’s Park at Rugby Park, maintaining their strong position in the league. Brown expressed her delight at receiving the Player of the Month award and set her sights on achieving further success, both personally and for the team, in the coming months.

In an interview with the club’s website, Brown said, “I’m just glad to be even put up for the award, never mind win it. I’m absolutely delighted, and I hope it’s the first of many to come for those wearing the Killie colors.”

Reflecting on the team’s recent performances, she added, “This has been a great month for the team, and with the transfer window, we have brought in some cracking players who I know are going to make an impact.”

Brown emphasized the collective improvement in team play, stating, “In the next couple of months, I hope to keep assisting and scoring as much as possible for the team and help to push others in a positive way.”

Looking ahead to the remainder of the season, Brown highlighted the team’s goals, stating, “We as a team know what we are capable of. There’s a play-off spot within our reach, and we have to take each game as it comes and stay consistent right to the very end. We know what has to be done to achieve our goals this season.”

Kilmarnock Women’s team will enjoy a free week this weekend before gearing up for their next fixture, an away trip to Airdrie to face Gartcairn on Wednesday, March 13. As Brown and her teammates focus on the challenges ahead, the Kilmarnock community eagerly anticipates further success and achievements on the pitch.
