Scotland boasts countless stunning beaches with 52 of them across the country winning awards in 2025 for their beauty. However, which ones out of the hundreds to choose from made the cut for the top three this spring?

In first place is Machir Bay, which has been awarded the top beach to visit during the spring months. This gorgeous golden sandy beach can be found on the Isle of Islay and stretches for about 2km long, boasting views that overlook the Atlantic Ocean.

The spot is popular for its breathtaking sunsets and is also home to several shipwrecks, which can sometimes be spotted during low tides. Those who have visited and left reviews noted how peaceful the beach feels as well as the cleanliness of the sand with the beach scoring an overall 6.9/10 once temperatures and the daily rainfall and sunshine levels are taken into account.

In second place is the famous West Sands beach, located in St Andrews. Just 15 minutes from the town centre, West Sands Beach is the perfect spot for a quick dip into nature. This gorgeous beach is particularly popular for swimmers and surfers, and even has a dedicated zone for land yachting.

According to the experts, West Sands beach has been awarded a 5.9/10.

Meanwhile in third place, two East Lothian beaches share the spot.

Gullane Beach, which has 1,270 Google Reviews – the most by far out of all of the mentioned beaches -is situated just five miles west of North Berwick and is a popular spot for wind and kite surfing, as well as for walkers.

It also offers fabulous views of Firth of Forth with 6.9 hours of daily spring sunshine hours so those who visit are in with the chance of getting a good opportunity to gaze out onto the water.

Meanwhile, Yellowcraig Beach is a natural cove which is loved by families due to its adventure playpark and many nature trails. Visitors are also treated to a view of the 1885 lighthouse on Fidra Island, which is said to be the inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson’s famous book Treasure Island. Both scored a 5.7/10.
