Amazon has slashed the price of its ever-popular Ring video doorbell as part of the retailer’s spring sale, and shoppers have been blown away at its features.
The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) by Amazon, which is the latest model of the product, has been cut in price by 40% – bringing the price down to £59.99.
Customers have praised how easy the device is to set up, and how much safer it has made their property feel, awarding it an average rating of 4.6 stars out of five.
The Ring doorbell is battery-powered, meaning there’s no need to plug it in. Simply stick it outside your front door using the tools provided and you are good to go.
By connecting your device to your WiFi via the Ring app, you’ll be able to answer the door from wherever you may be, speaking or listening to whoever has come by.
You’ll receive an instant notification when anyone presses your doorbell or when motion is detected, and with Two-Way Talk, you can speak directly to them – ideal if someone is delivering a parcel and wants to know a safe place to leave it.
Or, to save time, you can choose from an array of Quick Replies that will play out to whoever’s at the door, letting them know that you’re not home.
The camera boasts 1080p HD video, crisper Night Vision and features that let you see, hear, and speak to anyone from your phone or tablet. You can also pair it with select Alexa-enabled devices and allow announcements to be notified when your doorbell is pressed or motion is detected.
And again, thanks to the Ring App, you’ll be able to view a live feed from the doorbell at any time, and adjust the motion settings with whichever device you’re using.

Shoppers have been full of praise for the Ring doorbell, with one saying: “Quite expensive usually but I’ve had my eye on them for a while and they do end up being on sale. Lasts a long time after a full charge – about three months for us. We charge it overnight when it’s unlikely we’ll have any callers. Works well with echo products which announces when someone is at the door. We also like the alerts we get on our phone enabling us to talk to visitors when we are out and about.”
And another raved: “I decided to invest in a ring doorbell for added security as I live on my own and it allows me to look on the app to see who’s at my door before I answer it great for the winter dark nights. It’s a great device especially when you aren’t home it tells you when people are at your door and you can speak to them as well. It alerts me when my children are going into my house.”
However, some have complained that it’s difficult to connect, with one shopper saying: “Great product easy to follow instructions but no matter what I did could not link up to the wifi. Very frustrating.”
Alternatively, the similar Blink video doorbell is also currently on sale at Argos, at a reduced price of £38.99 down from £60.
